When you're in a place that leaves you feeling drained, unmotivated, and unhappy its important to find things that inspire you again. Usually when I begin to feel this way I try to pack my social calendar. Giving myself something to look forward to each week helped me prioritize my happiness throughout the week. But we all think and act differently so I listened to other suggestions and tips on getting yourself out of a rut. Many people said, "listening to podcasts." For the longest time I had trouble connecting to a podcast. As a person that is more of a visual learner, I couldn't sit still and listen to someone talk. That was until I found Jenna Palek.
Jenna is a tiktoker that got famous for creating a video resume when applying for her job TikTok. Since then she grew a huge fan base based on her bubbly and confident content. I followed her in March of 2021 and have followed her ever since then. In July, Jenna dropped her first podcast episode, Fun on Weekd

ays. When she dropped the description of the show I knew I had to give it a listen. Her podcast revolves around the idea that even though we all have certain obligations in life (a full time job, kids, school, etc) we should still make time for fun. When you live your life only allowing yourself one day/ night to enjoy life, you get pretty unhappy, very quickly, and life is too short to not enjoy yourself as much as possible.
I absolutely love her podcast. I get notifications every Tuesday when she releases a new episode. What really hooked me was her message in one of the first episodes. Since her podcast grew so fast and got so successful, Jenna quit her job at Tiktok which threw off a lot of people because they felt she wasn't staying true to the message she was spreading. She made an episode which addressed the change of job and how she found herself feeling unfulfilled in her career. She said, "Stop complaining about the things you can change." She was unhappy about her career so she did something about it and prioritized herself. This struck me immediately. I wrote it on a note card and taped it on my wall right over my desk. As someone who was unhappy with many things in life, I asked myself which if these things can I change? When I find myself falling back into my rut I asked myself what I can do about this and how can I change my mood. For anyone feeling low self esteem or just feeling low in general, I highly suggest you listen to her podcast. At the end of every episode her or her guest suggests something fun to do during the week.
